10 Titanium M5x12mm Water Bottle Bolts. We love Titanium water bottle boss bolts, and we think you will too! We have custom designed these bolts with a flat wafer head, rather than more traditional rounded head, because they look cool and the flat surface provides a better strength to weight ratio for holding bottle cages, anything cages, or even bear claw holsters on your bike. At 1.4g per bolt, they're 22% lighter than other name brand Ti bottle cage bolts of the same length.
These M5 bolts are 12mm in length, with a head that's 9.5mm across, and have a thread pitch of 0.8mm (this is the standard for virtually all bicycles). They're machined specifically for jefe.bike from grade 5 Titanium alloy (Ti-6al-4v).
To tighten or loosen the bolts, you'll want to have a 3mm hex head allen key (not included). These ship 10 to a package, so just about enough to fill all of those M5 spots on your favorite bikepacking setup.
And because its jefe.bike, they're raw Titanium in color, so silver with no anodizing colors. If you're getting ready for a trip, you might want to consider changing out and upgrading your bottle bolts.
As with all fasteners and mounts you're using on a bikepacking trip, we recommend a thorough and deliberate pre-treatment of blue thread locker of your choice. We have had good luck with branded Loctite 242 but everyone seems to have their own preferences in the area of thread locking compounds. Make sure your compound is fresh--and hasn't gone through a number of freeze-thaw cycles in your garage over the past winter, and use gloves when applying. Since you're going all out on a bolt refresh here, a little prep work can go a long way. These bolts are going to be working hard for you for a long time.
Note--these come 10 bolts to an order. We recommend the use of blue Loctite 242 / 243 on the retention bolts of all bikepacking and gravel accessories. As a medium-strength thread locker, this product reduces vibration-related loosening.
