Standard handlebar tapes are 2mm - 3mm in thickness and 185 - 200cm long. That's just enough tape for standard bars--if you're proficient at bar taping and the thickness is just OK if you're riding a smooth road surface.
But what if you have flared bars, gravel bars, or better yet, wide drop bars? The standard length tapes just won't work - and if you try to "stretch it"--by going edge-to-edge with your taping, you lose all of the shock protection offered by the tape to begin with. And that's if the standard tape doesn't break while you're sweating to stretch the tape to fit the bars.
Jefe Velo's Extra Long XL Cushion Handlebar Tape is just what you need. Clocking in at 245cm per roll (two rolls included per pack), this tape is 23% longer than traditional tapes and the thickness (check the vernier pictures) is 4.8mm, which is 60% thicker than our 3mm ULTRA Grip tape.
Extra Long XL Cushion Handlebar Tape is comprised of three layers. The top layer is made from Ethylene Polymer Acetate, a lightweight synthetic polymer known for its superior cushioning and excellent shock absorption properties. The second layer is a polyester jersey fabric layer that provides lateral pull strength to facilitate bar wrapping. The third layer is an adhesive layer that keeps the tape in place once it's wrapped. It has an easy to remove self adhesive strip--and no, this removable strip is not included in the thickness calculation!
