A/C Qube Dynamo Rear Safety Lamp by kLite: The Qube is the world’s best dynamo-powered rear blinking lamp. This unit is more efficient than all previous Qube models in that it operates on alternating current from the dynamo, rather than requiring inverted 5V direct current from the kLite USB charger. There are two versions to choose from:
The base XT30 A/C Qube unit comes with a XT30 connector that allows you to connect the device directly to your kLite wire loom. It also ships with an XT30 "Y" connector that allows you to use the A/C Qube simultaneously with your kLite USB charger, using your standard kLite XT30 wire loom. Just plug the "Y" into the "always on" lead from your kLite wire loom (or your kLite unswitched minimalist wire loom), connect the two "Y" ends into the Qube and USB charger, and you're good to go. The base unit is 36" in length and can be extended (such as for use with a rear rack) with standard kLite extensions.
The upgraded A30 A/C Qube unit comes with a new-to-market 3-output kLite wire loom with a switch that has an always-on A30 connection port for the AC Qube, along with the standard XT30 connections for a kLite ULTRA lamp and a kLite USB charger. The handlebar switch on the includes wire loom allows the user to alternate between powering the front lamp (not included) and the USB charger (not included) while the A/C Qube connected by the A30 port remains "always on". The loom is designed to be a replacement for the XT30 looms in existing kLite systems. The base unit is 36" in length; an XL version (58" in length) is available.
Both A/C Qubes have a hidden option button on the back that allows the user to select fast blink, slow blink, or solid mode. This is a big upgrade from the DC Qube which uses an inline dongle to switch from blink to solid modes. Both Qubes ship with a standard kLite rear stay / seatpost zip tie mounting kit with three diameter sizes to fit your specific application. Brighter than the DC Qube, will work with the front light on, off, or even not present, and because it's alternating current, can be configured to connect directly to the dynamo circuit. Requires the use of a kLite wire loom to connect the device to the dynamo hub.
Applications for the A/C Qube:
- When you don't need USB charging, you can simply plug your A/C Qube into the "always on" port of your kLite wire loom in place of the USB charger. This gives you the option of having front and rear "all the time" lighting.
- When you want the most minimal rear light solution - choose the minimalist unswitched wire loom and plug it into your A/C Qube. This gives you "all the time" rear lighting withiout the complexity of a switched wire loom or front lamp.
- If you want to extend the length of your A/C Qube so that you can use it on your rear rack, you'll want to measure carefully and determine which of the kLite extension wires you want for your solution. They come in 12, 24, and 36 inch lengths. You'll also want to consider the kLite Qube Rear Rack mount Which fits most rear racks that have two mounting holes with 5cm spacing.
All Electronics are imbedded inside the A/C Qube lamp itself, so that the cord can more easily be routed along with brake and shifting lines on your bike. As with the D/C Qube, the A/C Qube is fully waterproof.
